A Green Shade House is constructed using green net and steel framework in the botanical garden of our department. The purpose of the house is to grow plants throughout the year. The Green House provides regulated climatic conditions for growth of plants. It also provides pest and insect free environment for the plants. It also gives a protected environment against wind, rain, hailstone, frost and temperature that affect the plants. Horticultural practices like growing ornamental plants, vegetable crops, fruit trees, shade loving plants and various vegetative propagation, nursery maintenance etc. can be carried out in the house. Shade House provides regulated or controlled humidity, temperature, etc. for selected plants grown. Hardening and acclimatization of in vitro plantlets can be done. The source plants that provide explants for in vitro culture of plants can be grown and maintained throughout the year.
